The Therapeutic effects of Piroxicam for Intramuscular Injection in Acute Muscular Skeletal Lesion

Abstract
|
|
|
Piroxicam is a well established non-steroidal analgesic and anti-inflammatory agent, administered once daily, .that has a mean plasma half life in normal subjects or patients of about 50h.12) Steady-state following the usual 20mg daily dosing is reached within one or two weeks. More than 90% of piroxicam is excreted as metabolites, by both renal and hepatic pathways. Its purpose was to evaluate the therapeutic effectiveness and side reaction of `SP-20´ for i.m.
The results were as follows:
1. The effect of SP-20 was `Excellent´ in 4 patients (8%), ‘Good’ in 32 patients (64%). ‘Fair’ in 10 patient (20%), ‘Poor´ in patients (4%), `No Judge´ in 2 patients (4%).
2. Side effects were observed 4 cases (8%) in all. And there is no significant abnormality from biochemical findings.
3. Improvement in pain on motion has more effect than that of swelling and pain at rest.
4. As a result, it as concluded that SP-20 for i.m. (Piroxicam injection) is a useful drug in orthopedic fields.
